Kitchen and bathrooms
Well, here it is September and we aren't quite in. We received our certificate of occupancy last week but we are still waiting on the bank so we can close. Lord willing, we will close tomorrow, Friday 9/3. In the meantime, we have been working on doing finishing touches like knobs on the cabinets, shelves in the kitchen and mirrors/towel racks in the bathrooms.

Flooring
Sorry for no updates lately but we have had lots of delays. We lost about 2 weeks waiting to get the trench dug to run the electric and then getting the electric company to come get us hooked up. That finally got finished last Tuesday so our flooring was able to get put in after the house cooled down. We are down to just a few things needing done so hopefully, prayerfully, we will close next week and start moving in.

It's August...
and no, unfortunately, we are not in the house yet. We are very disappointed but we are hoping by the middle of August to be in. There have been some delays that have mostly been out of our control but, hopefully, they are taken care of and we are moving forward. Many main things have been done such as sinks/faucets installed, a/c and water pump installed, the tile being laid and the lights being hung. There are also 2 of the appliances installed. Hopefully, the next inspection will be done early this week and then the electric run so the a/c can be turned on. That will allow the laying of the wood floor. We are in the home stretch!!

Paint and Cabinets
There is color now!! This week had some great changes in that all the rooms are painted, the outside is 75% painted (they still have the trim to do) and cabinets were installed. The outside was also graded in prep for concrete and grass. Next week, the plumbing and electrical should be finished up. Not too much longer!
Very pleased with the cabinets and layout of the kitchen! Can't wait to get it organized!!
Can you tell there will be girls living in this house? We had 3 color choices in the budget so we had to be creative. At least there is no pink downstairs :-)

Looking like rooms
It is really beginning to look like a house. The drywall began going in 2 weeks ago after the insulation inspection was done. The girls were very excited to see their rooms taking shape. These were taken on 6/30.
Here they are on the staircase.
What a different feeling now that we can't see "through" the stairs.
The kitchen - still having trouble visualizing everything fitting in there
Youngest to oldest, they are all thrilled with their soon to be rooms! Btw, we had been out picking blackberries so that is why they are in long pants in the middle of hot, hot summer!!
The prep for the stucco had also been started. Those very dark clouds dropped some torrential rains right as we left. I don't think they got much more done outside.
We went out tonight on 7/6 to see what had been done while we were out of town. The drywall is done, the stucco started and doors hung with the trim work begun.
The septic field has been built and the well has also been dug.

Mowing and Picking Blackberries
We spent yesterday afternoon at the house mowing the front part of the property. It was quite hot (a real feel of 112 degrees around 1 p.m.) but thankfully, we had the riding mower to make the job a little easier. June's mom even gave some help with the mowing. We also mowed a path around the outer edge of the back part of the property so we finally got a close up view. I took a picture from the back of the property looking up to the house. The path also allows us to start reaching some of the thousands of blackberries on the property.
Hopefully, after a second framing inspection, we will be able to start posting pictures of drywall and such going up.
